“My job is to listen, then point at the door that will benefit you most.  But that’s your door, and you’re the one who’s gotta walk through it.”  Am I shamelessly quoting myself?  Yes.

Your job as parent isn’t to get rid of your child’s tics, it’s to help them open doors they otherwise wouldn’t have access to; doors that bring them closer to developing the skills they need to more powerfully manage their tics and comorbid symptoms.

The kinesthetic experiences of our symptoms are the windows into better symptom management.

Neurological disorder is intimately experiential as our symptoms express in so many ways.  So how do we wisely integrate prescription medications into all the ways we manage our symptoms?

In that moment I realized something: most of the time when I got depressed, or when depression was soon to come, I’d crave the sugary sweet goodness called boba. So what did I do? I did a little science experiment with myself as the lab rat. I said no to the boba. (Gasp!)
